Our Pastor

Akin Omisanmi serves as the Pastor of Southwest Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Baltimore and raised in Prince George’s County, Akin came to faith in Jesus Christ shortly after high school through the faithful witness of his wife, Kellee. In the summer of 2010, God graciously opened his eyes to his sin and need for a Savior, leading him to place his trust in Jesus Christ. He was baptized and discipled at Grace Baptist Church, where the Lord began to cultivate within him a desire for pastoral ministry. In 2011, God gave Akin a growing aspiration to serve His church as a pastor.

Akin earned a Bachelor of Biblical Studies with a minor in Pastoral Ministry from Lancaster Bible College. He has served in various ministry roles at Grace Baptist Church and The Garden Church and completed the Capitol Hill Baptist Church Pastoral Internship in the fall of 2021. In 2025, he was called to serve as the pastor of Southwest Baptist Church.

Akin is passionate about helping people treasure Jesus Christ through the faithful preaching of God’s Word, intentional discipleship, and the cultivation of healthy local churches. He loves investing in the next generation of leaders and seeing believers grow in their love for Christ and His church.

When he is not serving the church, Akin enjoys spending time with his family, reading good books, drinking good coffee, and enjoying Nigerian and Mexican food. He and his wife, Kellee, live in Southwest Baltimore and are blessed with four children: AJ, Colton, Beckett, and Everlee.
